Day By Day Itinerary
Day 1
Your Tanzania journey opens in Arusha, the safari capital of East Africa. A private transfer takes you to your hotel, where your Sky Wild Safaris consultant joins you for welcome drinks and a walk-through of your full itinerary. Overnight in Arusha.
Day 2
Depart Arusha west through the Great Rift Valley, passing Maasai cattle herders and acacia woodland. As the road climbs to 2,400m, the Ngorongoro Crater rim comes into view. Check in to your rim lodge for a spectacular sunset over the caldera below.
Day 3
Descend 600 metres to the crater floor -- a self-contained ecosystem holding over 25,000 animals including Africa's densest lion population, black rhino, vast hippo pools, and soda lake flamingos. A crater floor picnic lunch, then ascent before sunset.
Day 4
Head north into the Serengeti, stopping at Olduvai Gorge -- where humanity's earliest ancestors were discovered. Afternoon arrival game drives on the Seronera Plains, famous for leopard, lion, and cheetah sightings. Tented camp overnight under the stars.
Day 5
A full day on the big cat circuit. Dawn drives along the Seronera River for leopard in the fig trees. Track lion prides on the open grassland, and cheetah mothers teaching cubs to hunt. A bush dinner with campfire tales ends the day.
Day 6
A short scenic flight transfers you to the northern Serengeti, where the river crossings happen July through October. Your guide positions you at the Mara River crossings -- if timing aligns, expect one of nature's most visceral spectacles. Luxury remote camp overnight.
Day 7
A second day in the north -- morning game drive, afternoon tracking migration herds, optional hot air balloon at dusk. The remoteness here feels like true wilderness. Three-course bush dinner around the fire.
Day 8
Morning game drive, then a flight back to Seronera. Afternoon at your central lodge. Optional nature walk with a Maasai guide. Final dinner and reflections on your Tanzania journey.
Day 9
This day accommodates a Zanzibar beach extension -- a 45-minute flight to the Indian Ocean for the perfect finale -- or a comfortable transfer back to Arusha for your international departure.
Day 10
Private transfer to your departure airport. Your Serengeti adventure concludes, but the images stay with you forever.
